Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about HawkSeale products, application, shipping, and ordering.

What are asphalt millings?

Asphalt millings are recycled material from old roads and parking lots. When existing pavement is resurfaced, the top layer is ground up and removed. These millings can be reused as a base material for driveways, roads, and parking lots at a fraction of the cost of new hot mix asphalt.

How long does HawkSeale last?

A properly applied HawkSeale treatment lasts for years. The product penetrates deep into the millings and permanently restores the asphalt binder. High-traffic areas or harsh climates may benefit from a maintenance coat every few years.

Can I apply it myself?

Yes. HawkSeale is designed to be DIY-friendly. All you need is a basic boom sprayer (available at most equipment rental shops), and the product is spray-applied directly onto the millings. No special training or heavy equipment required.

What equipment do I need?

A pump sprayer or boom sprayer with a standard nozzle. For driveways and small areas, a hand-pump or backpack sprayer works. For larger projects like roads or parking lots, a trailer-mounted boom sprayer is recommended. See our Sprayer & Tool Guide in the Resources section.

How much product do I need?

Coverage depends on the product and surface condition, but our flagship Asphalt Millings Sealer covers approximately 80 sq ft per gallon. Use our Product Calculator for an exact recommendation based on your project dimensions.

Do you ship nationwide?

Yes. We ship free to all 50 states in the contiguous US. Hawaii and Alaska orders have additional shipping charges. We ship pails, drums, totes, and full pallets direct from our Iowa facility.

What's the difference between your products?

We offer five products: Asphalt Millings Sealer (our flagship — rejuvenates recycled millings), Asphalt Sealer (protects existing hot mix pavement), Cement Sealer (seals concrete), Crack Filler (fills cracks before sealing), and Dust Suppressant (controls dust on gravel and unpaved surfaces).
